HarmonyOS 4.2 is full of useful features and one such is the App Security Center. As the term suggests, the respective application hub ensures that your data remains protected from the apps that you have installed or are about to install on the device.

Applications are one of the major segments of the smartphone. A phone holder uses various systems and third-party apps in a single day to meet their daily needs.

But do you know that most of the third-party apps present in the app store can steal your device’s data? That’s true and this scary thought might restrict many of users from installing any new application on your smartphone next time.

Thanks to HarmonyOS 4.2 – it has the App Security Center. This tool in your Huawei phone protects your data and confidential information from prying apps.

How? Let’s find out!

App Security Center is a real-time security management tool. It detects the behavior and data collection process of all such apps that aren’t recognized by Huawei AppGallery.

For instance, when you download and install an application from any other platform than AppGallery like a browser, the app security center prompt will appear on the screen. Users can follow the on-screen steps to move the app into the respective center.

Hereafter, the App Security Center will analyze the app behavior and check if the application performs any malicious or risky tasks that don’t meet the security standards.

If the app is free of such issues, users can continue to use it on their Huawei phones. Or else, the installation will be blocked. Thus, the user’s data remains safe at all costs. The tool keeps your sensitive personal info under wraps so that you can enjoy a safer and more efficient app experience.

How to access HarmonyOS 4.2 App Security Center?

Users can make their way to the Settings app. Tap on the System & Updates section and click on the App Guard option. Turn on the Enhanced Protection for apps’ security inspection.

Have you ever been in a hurry situation and found your Huawei phone at 1% battery? At that time, users wish for magic that can boost the device’s battery instantly. Thanks to HarmonyOS 4.2 Turbo Charging, a quick boost is now possible.

Turbo Charging came into existence in 2022. Huawei introduced it as a useful feature to give a quick charge to flagship phones. After some time, the company brought the significant tool for selected global handsets with the EMUI 13 upgrade.

Over time, Huawei has upgraded this feature with new improvements as well as better enhancements. With HarmonyOS 4.2, the company has rolled out the Turbo Charging feature to many old models like Mate 40 Pro, Nova 8/7 series, and more.

As the name suggests, Turbo Charging is a fast, safe, and efficient feature to charge Huawei devices in no time. Unlike the traditional charging capability, users don’t have to wait for hours to get their phone’s battery to reach at least 50 or 60% level.

Don’t worry as this feature won’t require any additional charger or cable. But users should have the original SuperCharge adapter and data cable that has come with the device. Now let’s learn how to access this effective feature.

How to enable HarmonyOS 4.2 Turbo Charging?

There are two ways to turn on the Turbo Charging mode. The first one is to touch and hold the center of the charging animation. (A small glowing animation appears as soon as you plug in your Huawei phone to a power adapter).

Holding the animation for a few seconds will display ‘Turbo Charge’ mode at the top of the screen. Touch and hold down on the center of the screen, until your phone vibrates and Turbo Charging displays on the phone’s screen.

Another way is, after plugging in the smartphone to a charger, enter the notification panel and tap the “Turbo Charge” in the turbo charge message box.

It is worth mentioning that you should grant permission for Optimizer to use this feature. Also, the Turbo Charging feature could overheat your device at a point. Don’t stress as this is a normal feature and doesn’t harm or affect your handset.

HarmonyOS 4.2 not only brings wonderful customizations but also gives a new angle to photography with the fresh camera layout. With the new software version, the firm has tweaked the optical framework and made it more useful for its device owners.

The Chinese phone maker has made photography easier with HarmonyOS 4.2 camera layout. For instance, Huawei phone users can now quickly access the camera menu without covering the preview screen. Just tap on the arrow below the shutter.

New Camera Menu:

With HarmonyOS 4.2, Huawei has shifted the key camera features to a drop-down section. This addition will appear will the lens shutter in the form of an arrow.

Clicking on this arrow will let you access tools like aspect ratio, Flash, Master AI, Filters, Grid, and more. Before this upgrade, users need to access these features by restricting the camera preview screen. But this issue doesn’t exist anymore.

The best advantage of this change is that users can manage these controls with one hand. Another benefit of the camera section is the zoom control feature. The zooming capability now appears in a rotating avatar rather than the traditional buttons.

Zoom Ring:

When opening the camera, users will see zoom options. Tapping and holding them for a second will result in a rotating feature. Spinning the wheel will let you adjust the focal length for the subject, giving you the feel of a professional photographer.

Even though you can adjust these levels directly by the 1x, 2x, 5x, tags on the screen. However, this addition makes the optical framework look more fun and interesting. Adjusting the zoom levels via the rotating ring also offers an amazing touch response.

EMUI 14.2 does offer a fresh camera layout with the drop-down section but a zoom wheel is missing from the segment. It’s a plus point for HarmonyOS 4.2 device users.

To access this feature, users can directly open the camera app on their Huawei phone. However, make sure that your device is running on the latest HarmonyOS 4.2 upgrade.

HarmonyOS 4.2 opens the door for several fun features and one of them is the ‘Geometric Stickers’ theme. Similar to its name, the theme adds a new and interesting look to your Huawei phone screen. Just style it a little and a playful theme is ready!

The Chinese phone maker introduced two types of themes with HarmonyOS 4.0: Interactive and Magazine. At that time, the Interactive section only had the emoji theme with exclusive mood wallpaper. It brings a dynamic visual effect to the screen.

With the Pura 70 series launch, Huawei introduced the Geometric Stickers theme that brought in triangular-shaped faces resembling the Pura 70 camera. These are similar to animated emojis and make the home screen far more interesting than ever.

Later on, Huawei added the Geometric Stickers theme to HarmonyOS 4.2. Now all the eligible models including the old Nova, Mate, and P models support this feature.

Geometric Stickers:

Just like the emoji expression theme, users can select a maximum of six stickers from the cluster of 72 items. These include triangular-shaped faces, cute animals, candy, gifts, balloons, and various other items. After choosing, you can style them.

There are four options to style these stickers. The first one will show them as a heap of shapes. The second one scatters them. In the third one, these faces appear slightly far from each other whereas, the fourth one shows a barricade line in the midst.

Users can further change the background color or modify the app icons’ shade based on the wallpaper. App icons will automatically pick the colors from the wallpaper, giving a monochromatic look throughout your smartphone’s home screen.

How to access HarmonyOS 4.2 Geometric Stickers Theme?

Make sure that your Huawei device is running on the HarmonyOS 4.2 version. Now head towards the Settings app and click on the “Home screen and style” section.

Select the Themes option and tap on “Geometric Stickers”. You may be required to download the theme package first. Once done, tap the Personalize button. Style the theme, change the colors, or alter the app icon shades as per your preference. After making changes, hit the Apply button.

After a long wait, the Standard Huawei Pura 70 is finally receiving the AI Image Expand feature update. Alongside the new picture editing tool, the company has also improved the system stability and security aspects of the flagship smartphone.

Huawei promised to bring the AI Image Expansion offering for standard Pura 70 models this month. Now the company has begun releasing the feature to limited users. But it won’t take much time to roll out the firmware on a broader spectrum.

The Standard Huawei Pura 70 is getting the AI Image Expand feature via HarmonyOS 4.2.0.176 version. Users need to ensure sufficient space as the firmware package weighs 1.10GB. We also suggest using a stable Wi-Fi connection for installation.

Pura 70 users will be able to access the AI Image Expand feature with the latest software version. The feature smartly detects the object in an image and enlarges it without degrading the visuals or picture quality. Thus, you get large and clearer shots.

AI Image Expansion:

AI Image Expand tool runs on AI composition and image generation tech algorithms. It recognizes the details and image content and then suggests expansion accordingly. The missing parts in the picture are filled to give a wider field of view to users.

To access the feature, select an image from the Gallery app. Now tap the Edit icon and click on the AI Image Retouch section. Tap the “Expand Image” feature.

Other than the editing tool, users will get the July 2024 security patch as well as optimizations for the sound experience in certain conditions. The company has also added the ‘smart multiple windows’ tool for some apps. They will eventually support horizontally floating windows on the home screen when required.

HarmonyOS 4.2.0.176 is a major update for the standard Pura 70 models but the company is also rolling out this version to other variants. If not received yet, you can check the update section of your device and install the latest firmware manually.

A few users might face network abnormality issues with the new build. It could be due to the self-optimization of the device system. Users can try restarting their phones or wait for a few days as it may get normal. If it doesn’t contact Huawei Consumer Service.

Huawei expands HarmonyOS 4.2 software update for the Band 8 users. The latest firmware introduces a new notification feature for the wearable and optimizes a few health features. Users will get a more productive experience with the new update.

Last month, the company treated the Band 8 users with the HarmonyOS 4.2 stable upgrade. Now the OEM is bringing this update to more users with a new version and a few changes. Let’s learn about these additions as well as optimizations in detail.

HarmonyOS 4.2 software update expands for Huawei Band 8 users with the 4.2.0.103 version. Compared to the stable build, the latest build lacks a few features. For instance, digital car key support for the NFC variant and smart connectivity with TVs.

But don’t worry as the company might bring these features with the next coming versions to your wearable. The update currently counts a useful reminder feature to exit the sleep mode. It also improves the heart rate measurement for precise reports.

You can check other details in the changelog below.

New Feature

  • Adds a new notification feature that checks with you, when your wearable device detects that you’ve woken up, whether to exit the Sleep mode.

Optimizations

  • Optimizes the heart rate measurement experience.

Huawei is rolling out the new update gradually to users. This is why it is taking time to cover all the units in the native region. But don’t stress as it will soon reach all devices. After a broad coverage, the OEM may open this version for global units as well.

HarmonyOS 4.2 is currently available for Watch Ultimate, Watch 4 Pro and a few other wearables in the global market. Although many tablet and smartwatch users are still looking forward to grabbing this firmware and enjoying a new experience.

The Chinese phone maker hasn’t shared any major details on the global HarmonyOS 4.2 rollout. Yet we may soon find this offering for other overseas devices on board.
