Huawei is rolling out a new HarmonyOS NEXT public beta update and it added new exFAT file support among other new improvements. The company has released HMOS NEXT version 0.0.71 (SP1) with 456 megabytes of download size.

exFAT

This HarmonyOS NEXT update has added support for exFAT file system format. This will enable the operating system to detect additional external storage devices.

Extensible File Allocation Table (exFAT) is a file system that is an upgraded version of FAT32. It enables the system to efficiently process large files and storage devices.

It was first introduced in 2006 by Microsoft to replace FAT32 on devices with flash memory such as USB and SD cards. FAT32 has a 4GB size limit but exFAT could handle much larger files.

Furthermore, exFAT is supported by various operating systems including Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. This allows the user to seamlessly share files between different devices.

Charging and other improvements

The new update boosts turbocharging mode to improve overall user experience. The firmware also improves the user interface and optimizes system stability for better performance.

There’s a fix for Celia keyboard which resolves some issues with character position. On the other hand, devices with facial recognition have been facing issues with random unlock errors, which is addressed with this software.

The contact app is getting a new fix for issues in deleting and merging similar contacts. Eventually, the update has optimized the system for a better user experience in some situations.

Beta

Released on October 8, the public beta campaign has gathered more than a million users. The current activity is limited to flagship devices and will expand to other models as the activity progresses.

The program has unlimited test slots and any users with eligible devices can opt for public beta, folowed by OTA release.

A new screen protector leak hints at the nearing launch of Huawei Mate X6 foldable. The latest information reveals that the dual-folding phone’s accessories are ready. Probably, it may enter the consumer world officially by next month.

DigitalChatStation shared the Huawei Mate X6 screen protector image. He adds that the peripheral materials (here, accessories) of the new foldable are ready.

By looking at the image, we can see that the Huawei Mate X6 will have a rounded-corners display. The screen part mostly appears flat but slightly curved due to the plastic wrapping. Speaking of the bezels around the screen, it appears quite narrow.

An early leak suggested the Huawei Mate X6 will use a super flat display for effective visuals. The device could also use the UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) panel to offer a comfortable feel on the hands. The latest leak confirms this point to some extent.

Overall appearance of the front side seems a bit different from previous-gen models. The tech giant might also have saved changes for the backend of the foldable, which is still a mystery. The company won’t take much time to show the device.

Note that the front single punch-hole design is missing from the screen protector. The details on this matter will get clear with more revelations.

Mate X6 accessories hints that Huawei is all set to unveil the new foldable next month. The device may launch alongside or a few days later from the Mate 70 series unveiling. The company hasn’t confirmed the release date yet for this folding phone.

After the Mate 70 series, Mate X6 could be the next to adopt HarmonyOS NEXT. The new software system is running in the public beta phase for selected devices and will go stable with the flagship Mate 70 smartphone launch.

Coming back, the Mate X6 may also introduce a new Kirin 5G chip, AI capabilities, and some upgraded satellite features. It might use the same circular camera design as the predecessor but with better imaging capabilities.

Other parameters of the device are unknown but we will keep you posted with the latest details, leaks, and revelations on this matter.

HarmonyOS NEXT-based WeChat app is open for public testing and has a set of new features including a seamless chat transfer tool. Huawei devices running on the latest software beta build can now experience these changes and app capabilities.

Weibo tipster @AdakFenglangjuxu mentioned that Huawei device users who upgraded to HarmonyOS NEXT can use the WeChat seamless chat transfer tool.

From the name, the feature will efficiently transfer all the chat records of WeChat to the new software system, without losing any details or other data of the app. Ensure that you are using the WeChat HarmonyOS NEXT application version.

The feature seems quite effective. Often users concern about the device data and chats while upgrading their device to a new OS. Doing so leads to conversation loss and requires multiple processes to transfer the chat records locally.

Although WeChat HarmonyOS NEXT app has resolved this problem with a seamless chat transfer tool. Note this feature will only support Huawei devices upgraded to the HarmonyOS NEXT beta version. Others have to wait for subsequent builds.

The tipster further reveals that HarmonyOS NEXT has great changes for the Control Center. It may also bring an iOS-like live map to users for easy navigation.

HarmonyOS NEXT could further adopt a one-tap lock screen access capability and some more effective changes. A recent feature of the new OS is app cloning which can split the original app into 5 clones so that users can effectively run the application.

More such features are on the way. Many native HarmonyOS apps are now open for public testing. The drawback is only HarmonyOS NEXT beta users can explore these applications. But Huawei may expand the software testing to more device owners in the coming weeks.

Samsung broke many hearts after delaying the One UI 7.0 till next year but here’s a piece of good news – One UI 7.0 public beta is coming soon. The company recently confirmed this information through one of its official community moderators.

A recent discussion on Samsung community confirmed that One UI 7.0 public beta will launch soon. Some users asked if the new software beta will only be available to developers. The query points out users’ curiosity to test the latest One UI OS.

Responding to the thread, a moderator said that One UI 7 testing will soon enter the public phase. The company hasn’t confirmed the beta schedule yet. Once done, the new software beta will go to the public. Hence, wait patiently.

It looks like Samsung is giving some final touch-ups to its new One UI version. The Android 15-based One UI is expected to bring better upgrades, smoother animations, and effective features. Thus, the delay in this case seems good.

Further details reveal that users will be notified via the Samsung Members app about the beta progress. Therefore, we suggest keeping the app up-to-date with the latest version. Also, ensure sufficient storage space in your Samsung smartphone.

During the SDC 2024, the company confirmed that One UI 7.0 beta will be open for developers by the end of this year. Though the moderator’s words reflect that One UI 7 beta will also be available for the public right after or alongside developers.

Last year, Samsung unveiled the Android 14-based One UI 6 in October. But this time, the launch has extended to the Galaxy S25 series release in 2025.

However, the moderator’s latest clarification has confirmed that Samsung phone users may soon get the chance to test the One UI 7.0 software and its features. While the time is still unclear, it might be around December this year.

Being the latest flagship in the Samsung gallery, the Galaxy S24 series will be the first to fetch the new One UI 7.0 beta program. Meanwhile, the tech giant will add more devices to the list as the beta will proceed to the next rounds.

Huawei has started testing HarmonyOS NEXT for home storage and Wi-Fi routers. The company is sending the version upgrade reminder to eligible users. It also informs device owners about new features adapted to the latest operating system.

The company began HarmonyOS NEXT public beta program on October 8. At the same time, it started sending new upgrade reminders to the Huawei home storage and router users for HarmonyOS NEXT testing. The process is gradually proceeding.

Home storage products ensure that users can sync their PC, tablets, and phones to make file transfer more suitable. One can easily access files stored in the home storage from anywhere and anytime with the same account on multiple devices.

As per the upgrade reminder, the tech giant is developing new and smarter features for its home products. One of these features includes linking tools like gallery collaboration for home storage devices. The details of the new feature are unknown. But it will likely help with quick and easier access to images in the home storage.

Further inputs reveal that Huawei will upgrade some existing features for the Wi-Fi router. The new changes may offer a slightly different experience to users due to the HarmonyOS NEXT adaptation. Yet, it will surely be better than before.

“The linkage features such as home storage gallery collaboration are being adapted in the HarmonyOS NEXT system and will be gradually upgraded and supported in the future.”

Huawei is testing the HarmonyOS NEXT features for several products. The company recently opened the testing for smart TVs and developing new as well as smart tools. Meanwhile, testing for phones and tablets has reached the public beta phase.

After the home storage and routers testing, it seems the OEM won’t take much time to add more devices in HarmonyOS NEXT closed and public beta activities.
