Huawei Mate 70 series is coming and today, a tipster leaked its back cover revealing the camera design and the position of the side fingerprint sensor. The input also hints that the flagship lineup is seemingly ready to go official next month.

Weibo tipster @BeijingDigitalMaster shared some images of the Huawei Mate 70 back cover. The protective cover appeared in a Cyan pastel shade and has the “Mate 70” moniker on its plastic wrapper. The rear side reflects a matte finish.

Speaking of the details, the Mate 70 phone case reveals a big, uplifted, and circular camera bump. The outer rim of this module is wider than the previous-gen models. However, the thickness reduces the size of the frame, compared to Mate 60.

The external rim shines in silver color. Meanwhile, the inner circle of the camera bump resembles the Mate 60 series (above image). Although a few netizens said that the Mate 70 series might feature the Mate 50-like camera sensor arrangement.

Another notable segment is the right-angle frame. The back cover shows a more flat frame than the predecessors. If not many, consumers will notice some effective changes in the new Mate series’ appearance.

Mate 70 back cover leak further confirms a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The power button below the volume rockers reveals an open design which implies that at least the standard variant will possess the side fingerprint unlocking solution.

Whereas, the high-end models like the Pro+ and Ultimate Design variants could continue to feature the optical fingerprint scanner.

The back cover also shows rounded corners and slim edges all around the phone. Other details are unknown but the current leak implies that the Mate 70 series is nearing its launch.

The latest leak also hints that the Mate 70 series will offer both a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3D face recognition system. Regarding the camera sensors, the company has been testing new OmniVision lenses for the flagship lineup.

Perhaps this time, the company won’t make major changes to the device’s outlook but focus on the internal parameters. And let’s not forget that the two major additions to the Mate 70 series would be a new Kirin 5G chip and the HarmonyOS NEXT.

ASML is now rumored to raise the price of chip-making tools for TSMC. The price increment strategy will ultimately aid the chip equipment supplier in reaching its revenue goal by next year. But TSMC could make efforts to prevent this cost rise.

Ming-Chi Kuo noted that ASML is in rumors to increase the price of its chip-making tools for TSMC. But that won’t be the exact case. Perhaps, the Taiwanese semiconductor firm will likely bargain with ASML and suppress it for price reductions.

TSMC is one of the biggest customers of ASML. The latter used to sell large lithography machines to the former to print circuit patterns onto silicon wafers.

Wall Street stated a few points that hint at why ASML could raise the price of its chip equipment for TSMC. Firstly, ASML has planned to achieve €30 to €40 billion in revenue range by 2025. The firm is taking new steps to enhance its sales by next year.

Secondly, TSMC and other customers of the Dutch chip equipment supplier are looking forward to more advanced chipmaking processes by next year. This may ultimately increase the demand for ASML’s highest-end EUV tools pricing €350 million.

Lastly, ASML is seeing a major decline in semiconductor stocks for the time being. Customers like Intel and Samsung didn’t make much progress. But TSMC has recently reported blockbuster earnings with 54% profit. This could be a reason to hike chip equipment prices for the Taiwanese semiconductor firm.

TSMC is highly dependent on ASML for chipmaking tools. Thus, the Dutch firm could take advantage of this point to some extent by raising its price. However, the U.S. government may subsidize this dealing with better profits on both sides.

Note that neither ASML nor TSMC has confirmed this news so far. Hence, it is better to take this rumor with a grain of salt at present.

Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ will likely get a new 256GB storage variant. The top-end model has only two storage options: 512GB and 1TB. But it looks like the Chinese tech giant will soon add a new choice in this section to meet consumers’ requirements.

Weibo tipster @UncleKanshan notes that Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ will soon get the 16GB + 256GB storage variant. Inputs reveal that the device already has this version. Mate 60 Pro+ 16GB + 256GB variant is available on the online JD.com stores.

However, it is absent from the official or other online shopping channels. The OEM may soon release an official statement on this matter. The leak also hints that the new smartphone storage option would launch in the offline consumer market in future.

The information notes that the Mate 60 Pro+ 256GB storage variant costs 6799 yuan ($960.65). It is less than the 512GB version (7299 yuan) and is expected to focus on offline sales rather than being only available at online shopping channels.

Apart from the storage space, the rest of the parameters will be the same as other Mate 60 Pro+ siblings. Let’s wait for the official announcement on this subject.

Huawei and Honor have unveiled their ultimate creations in the Chinese foldable market for Q3 2024. After a detailed analysis, a chip reviewer says that both tech makers have the largest market share in the Chinese folding phone franchise.

Weibo tipster @smartchipguide shared the Chinese foldable market data for Q3 2024 in which Huawei and Honor are at the top. Both companies together account for 70% of the total Chinese folding phone market share in the third quarter.

Among these two rankers, Huawei holds 44.7% of the Chinese foldable market share and sits at the top. Honor accounts for 25.6%, ranking at the second spot.

Huawei has launched some interesting foldable phones in the first half of this year. In Q1 2024, the company showcased the Pocket 2 flip-flip model with an impressive design, a quad-camera setup, and several other amazing capabilities.

The tech giant then introduced a mid-range clamshell product – the Nova Flip. It arrived as a cost-effective folding device with new UI changes, AI features, and effective camera upgrades. And let’s not forget about the world’s first tri-fold!

Mate XT triple foldable gathered the spotlight, dimming the glow of the iPhone 16 series in September (Q3 2024). Its thin battery, three screens, Z form factor, and new AI capabilities accelerated the company’s growth in the foldable sector.

Honor has also brought three foldable phones this year. The list counts the company’s first clamshell device – Magic V Flip. Hereafter, the OEM launched Magic V3 and Vs3. The Magic V3 is considered the thinnest and smartest foldable to date.

Top 5 rankers

With new creations, Huawei and Honor have stolen the foldable show in China. Thus, the report could be accurate to some extent. Let’s check the other rankers.

Xiaomi follows in third position with 16.2% market share. Vivo and OPPO own 6.9% (fourth) and 2.5% (fifth) respectively. The rest of the market share is taken by other tech vendors present in the Chinese foldable phone ground. These rankings increased the overall market growth by 24% month-on-month.

Honor and Xiaomi are also in rumors for developing a tri-fold phone after the champion Huawei Mate XT. If true, these upcoming products will ultimately raise the standard of foldable phones in the Chinese consumer market.

Huawei Nova 13 Pro will likely bring a 50MP rear main camera with RYYB capability. The device will be the high-end variant of the next Nova lineup. It may adopt useful camera upgrades to offer an enhanced photography experience to its users.

As noted by @FixedFocus, the Huawei Nova 13 Pro carries a 50MP RYYB main camera on the rear side. The tipster adds that this addition to the phone is just a small part of consumers’ attraction. There could be more dynamic changes in it.

RYYB (red, yellow, yellow, blue) refers to a color filter arrangement that helps capture brighter shots in low-light conditions. As mentioned, it replaces the green pixel with the yellow one, allowing both red and green light to come through.

It ultimately increases the light intake (40% more light than an ordinary lens) and ensures clear images in a dark environment. Thus, users get cleaner, clearer, and crisper shots irrespective of the lighting scenarios in the surroundings.

A previous leak has already claimed that Nova 13 Pro will possess a 50MP RYYB main lens. However, the latest input has added more consent to this matter.

Huawei Nova 13 Pro main camera

The current camera detail is similar to the Huawei Nova 12 Pro. The phone features a dual-lens arrangement with a 50MP physical variable aperture (f/1.4-4.0), RYYB super-sensitive lens, and an 8MP ultrawide-angle macro snapper (f/2.2 aperture).

Although here comes the difference. Nova 13 Pro is said to feature a triple-cam setup on the rear side. This time, it may also have a 12MP periscope camera to capture far-away objects in one go without losing the overall quality of the picture.

Earlier, the same tipster revealed the lens parameters of the standard Nova 13 handset. The device may use a single 60MP selfie shooter on the front and a 50MP main camera on the back. Now, we have some details for the Pro variant as well.

More information is appearing on the online surface which implies that the Nova 13 series is inching closer to its launch. The company may unveil the high-range smartphone lineup by the end of this month.

Huawei will likely adopt improved camera features and shooting effects for the Mate 70 series. A new input indicates that the company will use an upgraded ISP camera chip. This component will result in high-quality and more vibrant images.

Mate 70 camera specifications are in the mist at present. Early rumors said the flagship lineup will use an upgraded camera system over the Pura 70 models. Now a new leak adds more insights to this matter, specified with an ISP imaging chip.

Tipster FixedFocus notes that the Huawei Mate 70 series will likely bring improved camera shooting effects. The primary color mode, also known as RGB (red, green, blue) spectrum may provide more vivid colors and brighter shots than before.

The highlight of this leak is a new ISP imaging chip. Huawei is said to use a new ISP (Image Signal Processor) component to enhance the camera effects for Mate 70.

ISP is a special imaging chip that processes raw image data and converts it into high-quality images. It runs on automatic scene and face recognition capabilities to enhance the image output. The chip further adjusts other aspects like contrast, color, and brightness of the pictures, making them more realistic.

Other characteristics of the ISP chip are to maintain the white balance, auto-focus, noise reduction, and sharpness of the image to make them perfect.

An upgraded ISP imaging processor will eventually boost the shooting ability of the Mate 70 series. However, the tipster notes that the camera parameters could differ between Mate 70 variants, which will likely affect the photography experience.

Anyways, the overall camera performance is expected to be better than the previous-gen models. Mate’s lineup has been all about performance. But the tech giant never compromised its photography experience. Thus, we may see new upgrades with the upcoming Mate 70 series smartphones as well.

Mate 70 series may use the signature circular camera bump on the rear side. An early input claimed that the standard model could opt for an OV50H main lens whereas, the high-end variants will adopt new OV50N and OV50M camera sensors.

A large variable aperture camera combined with a hybrid lens is also on the expected list. But how far these leaks are accurate is still a big question. We may get answers to these doubts in the next month. Stay tuned.
