Huawei Mate 70 series is coming and today, a tipster leaked its back cover revealing the camera design and the position of the side fingerprint sensor. The input also hints that the flagship lineup is seemingly ready to go official next month.

Weibo tipster @BeijingDigitalMaster shared some images of the Huawei Mate 70 back cover. The protective cover appeared in a Cyan pastel shade and has the “Mate 70” moniker on its plastic wrapper. The rear side reflects a matte finish.

Speaking of the details, the Mate 70 phone case reveals a big, uplifted, and circular camera bump. The outer rim of this module is wider than the previous-gen models. However, the thickness reduces the size of the frame, compared to Mate 60.

The external rim shines in silver color. Meanwhile, the inner circle of the camera bump resembles the Mate 60 series (above image). Although a few netizens said that the Mate 70 series might feature the Mate 50-like camera sensor arrangement.

Another notable segment is the right-angle frame. The back cover shows a more flat frame than the predecessors. If not many, consumers will notice some effective changes in the new Mate series’ appearance.

Mate 70 back cover leak further confirms a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The power button below the volume rockers reveals an open design which implies that at least the standard variant will possess the side fingerprint unlocking solution.

Whereas, the high-end models like the Pro+ and Ultimate Design variants could continue to feature the optical fingerprint scanner.

The back cover also shows rounded corners and slim edges all around the phone. Other details are unknown but the current leak implies that the Mate 70 series is nearing its launch.

The latest leak also hints that the Mate 70 series will offer both a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3D face recognition system. Regarding the camera sensors, the company has been testing new OmniVision lenses for the flagship lineup.

Perhaps this time, the company won’t make major changes to the device’s outlook but focus on the internal parameters. And let’s not forget that the two major additions to the Mate 70 series would be a new Kirin 5G chip and the HarmonyOS NEXT.

Huawei is launching several products next week and one of these could be a VR headset. The company might unveil its long-rumored Virtual Reality device on October 22 to compete with the Apple Vision Pro in the Chinese consumer market.

VR or Virtual Reality headset is a head-mounted device. It offers immersive virtual experiences through a 3D near-eye display (lenses). The display uses key technologies like positional tracking to generate a virtual environment for the user.

A new input says that Huawei may launch its first high-end VR headset next week. The company has been in the news for its secretive VR device since February 2024. Many tipsters said the OEM has a dynamic headset in the pipeline.

Now it seems we don’t have to wait much to see the amazing Virtual Reality headset. Huawei hasn’t announced any details or teased the device so far. Thus, let’s hold patience till October 22 launch event for an official confirmation on this matter.

Some early leaks have claimed that Huawei’s VR device would be far better, lighter, and more cost-effective than Apple Vision Pro. According to the former executive of Meizu Li Nan, the Huawei VR headset will equip a Sony 4K micro-OLED screen.

This display panel might have the same capabilities as the Apple Vision Pro. Also, the device could use Huawei’s self-developed chipset and weigh 350 grams.

Next, the Huawei VR headset could feature a gesture-based control system with no time delay. While Apple Vision Pro (600 grams) costs 25000 yuan, the Huawei VR product may have a price value of 15000 yuan.

Overall, Huawei’s Virtual Reality headset will bear stronger features and capabilities than Apple Vision Pro. It may excel in comfort and run all day long.

Other features and details of the expected device are unknown. But we may find them by October 22. Stay Tuned.

Huawei has interestingly hinted at the starting price of the Nova 13 series. As per the revelations, the new smartphones could cost below 3000 yuan. It seems there won’t be much difference between the latest and previous-gen devices in cost.

The Chinese tech giant has shared a new poster on the Huawei Mall for the Nova 13 series. The image highlights the standard and Pro models with a price question:

“Price: ¥2??9/¥3??9 | Pre-order to win a gift | Post your order and stand a chance to win starry handbags”

Note that the 2xx9 yuan price is for standard whereas the 3xx9 yuan is for the Pro variant. It indicates that the Huawei Nova 13 series starting price will be below 3000 yuan. It’s a relief to those who thought the cost may exceed 3000 yuan this time.

Last year, Huawei launched three models in the Nova 12 series: Standard, Pro, and Ultra. A Lite version also accompanied the lineup. These devices start pricing at:

  • Nova 12 Lite (256GB) – 2499 yuan
  • Nova 12 (256GB) – 2999 yuan
  • Nova 12 Pro (256GB) – 3999 yuan
  • Nova 12 Ultra (512GB) – 4699 yuan

Judging from the new posters and price of the Nova 12/12 Pro, it seems the Nova 13 series may bear the same cost tag as its predecessors. To know the exact details, we have to wait till the official unveiling of both smartphones.

South Korea is planning strict measures to block its chipset secrets as well as business leaks worldwide. The government could soon impose “heavier than before” penalties on those who leak regional regulations and chip-related secrets to others.

According to Reuters, the finance minister of South Korea, Choi Sang-mok said that the country is readying strict measures and rules to block chipset and technology leaks in the global market. It is preparing a big-data system as a major safety.

The new “big data” system will lead to useful and stricter rules with tougher punishments for culprits. The penalties under this system are unknown but it will eventually ensure full security of the business secrets and chip tech in the country.

“We will prevent illegal leaks of advanced technologies to raise the global competitiveness of our companies and strengthen technology leadership.” – said Choi.

South Korean government is taking such strict measures following the previous leak cases in the country. Inputs reveal that over 97 attempts have been made in the past five years to leak business secrets and chipset details to other countries.

As noted by the National Intelligence Service, 40 of these leaks were regarding chip manufacturing and its relevant parts. The good news is that these leaks didn’t achieve success. Or else, it would have led to a loss of $16.85 billion to the country.

In September, a South Korean official blamed for stealing chipmaking details from Samsung.  Thus, a few strict measures on this matter are quite necessary.

Over the years, South Korea established around 12 national strategic tech firms that can support the country financially. These include rechargeable batteries, aerospace and artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and more.

These industries also aim to protect and respond actively to global competition and help resolve supply chain problems. It would be worth seeing what new penalties South Korea will take on the chipset and tech leak matter.

Honor CEO – Zhao Ming has revealed the front design of the Magic 7 smartphone before its launch. The executive also shared some key features of the device. He claims that new additions to the device will ultimately boost the user experience.

Zhao Ming and the Chairman of 360 Group, Zhou Hongyi recently attended a live broadcast event. During the interview, the CEO showcased the Honor Magic 7, mainly its front design. He also operated the device to show its major features.

Front Design

Magic 7 phone shows curvy corners on the front side. It has thinner bezels around the screen and exhibits a clean look. The sides of the handset reflect a slight curve all around. Perhaps, the new phone may continue to feature the quad-curved outlook.

Another segment is the pill-shaped design. Honor Magic 7 will also bring the same pill cutout as its predecessors. The design may adopt a selfie lens and a 3D face recognition system.

Back Design

The executive completely covered the back design with a rugged phone case to hide the camera module. Although two lens openings (in a diagonal arrangement) and an LED Flash are visible through the cover. Another strip opening hints at laser focus.

Since the back design is covered with the case, the accurate details are unknown. But the OEM may reveal the entire design with new teasers in the upcoming days.

Apart from the phone, the CEO also described how its smart voice assistant has become even smarter. It can perform various tasks with just a single statement.

Zhao demonstrated the order takeout feature on the Magic 7 smartphone. He said “Order three cups of American coffee” and the device immediately searched for the item and completed the order within minutes. Notably, one has to submit the order and complete the payment without worrying about any other task.

More such features are on the way and we may witness them with the official unveiling of the Honor Magic 6 series on October 30.

Huawei may unveil the Hi MateBook 14 notebook by the end of this month. The device has been in rumors since September and it could go official in the upcoming weeks. Apart from the Hi-tagged PC, there could be a new D 16 notebook model.

Weibo tipster @UncleKanshan revealed that Huawei could launch the Hi MateBook 14 PC later this month. It might be available in major stores by October 25th. Meanwhile, the company may release it officially in the last week of this month.

The leak implies that the new notebook will have a 14-inch screen. Due to the “Hi” term, it could be shelved under the WIKO brand in the future. But things aren’t very clear at the moment. Let’s wait for some more days to get exact details on this topic.

A netizen asked if the Hi MateBook will continue the adaptation to Intel and Windows or use HarmonyOS. In response, the tipster confirmed the former option.

Earlier, the Hi MateBook was expected to launch with HarmonyOS PC as the new smart selection product. However, several other inputs mentioned that Huawei’s new computer-dedicated software won’t be launched earlier than Q2 or Q3 2025.

iPhone 16 Pro Max lags behind Huawei Pura 70 Ultra in many aspects and one such is the telephoto lens. A recent report by DXOMARK shows that Apple’s new device is struggling to match the level of Chinese smartphones in the photography race.

DXOMARK performed a new comparison test between the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Huawei Pura 70 Ultra for a telephoto lens. The participant list also includes other flagship smartphones like Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Vivo X100 Pro.

The reviewer noted that Apple has improved the telephoto camera and its features with the iPhone 16 Pro Max to a significant extent. However, it still cannot match the level of the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra and other Chinese premium devices.

Inputs further reveal that the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max’s telephoto lens struggled with the focal length operations. The device exhibits more noise while capturing the images. Meanwhile, the skin details in the image demand more clarity.

DXOMARK notes that iPhone 16 Pro Max detail processing isn’t as good as the Chinese models. It failed to show improved picture quality and better refinement in the landscapes. The color accuracy also feels pale than other handsets.

Comparatively, the Pura 70 Ultra and the other two models performed quite well with their telephoto camera. These devices portrayed better and sharper details with smoother facial skin. Overall results are far superior to the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max:

The company has implemented a tri-lens arrangement to the device with a 48MP primary camera, a 48MP ultrawide-angle lens, and a 12MP telephoto sensor with 5x zoom capability. It also supports dual-pixel PDAF and sensor-shift OIS.

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra

The device features an advanced XD Motion Engine that ensures accurate clicks even at the fastest pace. Huawei has also enhanced the XMAGE imaging system to ensure an excellent photography experience for its users.

The device features a triple-camera setup with a 50MP main shooter, a 40MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP telephoto snapper with 3.5x optical zoom.

A new input suggests that the Huawei Mate 70 series might support both HarmonyOS NEXT and Android app versions. Compatibility with the latter implies that this time, the company could launch its new Mate smartphones in global markets.

RuiPlaysDigital mentions that the Huawei Mate 70 series will likely launch as a dual-frame lineup. It will adapt to both a single and double framework for efficiency.

Here, the single framework refers to the self-developed HarmonyOS NEXT apps whereas, the double framework is for Android. It means Huawei may launch an Android-compatible version of the Mate 70 series handsets in the time ahead.

Android-compatible version means that Mate 70 smartphones will be able to run Android applications. At the same time, it will bring HarmonyOS NEXT apps to Chinese consumers to meet their daily requirements with faster and smoother services.

If true, Huawei Mate 70 models will be able to support both HarmonyOS NEXT and Android app versions. This will ultimately enhance the user experience.

Some netizens even see this as a huge relief point as those who don’t want to jump on a new upgrade can continue to choose the old system. Things aren’t clear hence, we have to wait for the official announcement on this subject.

Huawei Mate 70 Android app

This input further hints that Huawei could unveil the Mate 70 series in the global markets. Last year, the company didn’t launch the Mate 60 models on the overseas platform. However this time, worldwide users may get the chance to explore Mate 70.

Perhaps this could have been a reason behind the Mate 70 series launch delay. Earlier reports claimed that Huawei is optimizing the software part for the Mate 70 models. As a result, the launch may delay from September to November this year.

Apart from the compatibility, the tipster mentioned that the Huawei Mate 70 series may launch in mid to late November. The accuracy of the current leak is still in question. Thus, let’s take this information with a grain of salt for the moment.

Honor MagicOS 9.0 and HarmonyOS NEXT Control Panel have allegedly appeared in a new leak. The details and overall arrangement of the quick setting icons are quite similar between both operating systems. Let’s explore them in detail.

Weibo tipster @RuiPlaysDigital shared an image of two Control Panels, claiming them to be of HarmonyOS NEXT and MagicOS 9.0. One of these is similar to an early revelation of HarmonyOS NEXT Control Center and adds consent on this matter.

The tipster says the only difference between HarmonyOS NEXT and Honor MagicOS 9.0 Control Panel is the arrangement of widgets. For instance, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tabs, audio controller, volume and brightness adjuster, and so on.

Meanwhile, other features and icons of these two Control Panels are quite identical to each other. The blur effect between the two also differs to some extent but possesses the same capability. Let’s explore both Control Panels one by one.

Honor MagicOS 9.0 Control Panel

The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tabs are placed vertically on the top left, beside the hotspot section. Below these buttons, users will find the media player and two adjusters: brightness and volume. Settings and Edit icons are also visible above the hotspot.

At the topmost side, there is a battery indicator and other network services icon. The rest of the Control Panel is full of quick setting icons like ring, rotate, and more.

The live image shows an opaque background rather than a slight blur. But that could be the wallpaper effect. Other changes will be clear by the MagicOS 9.0 launch.

HarmonyOS NEXT MagicOS Control Panel

HarmonyOS NEXT vs MagicOS 9.0: Control Panel (Image Credits: Weibo)

HarmonyOS NEXT Control Panel

The current appearance is quite similar to a previous leak. It shows merged items instead of separate ones. Just opt for a simple “swipe down” gesture to see all the icons alongside a large brightness adjuster, which is not visible in this picture.

All the icons and tabs appear at equidistance from each other. The tiny icons are now more round than ever before and seem quite big as well as recognizable.

One side of the Control Panel shows the setting icon while the other one highlights the editing option. The background seems more blurry, giving the effect of the main wallpaper on the Control Panel which ultimately makes it more appealing.

Concluding the points, the tipster said that HarmonyOS NEXT Control Panel isn’t the final version. Huawei could make more changes and modify it with the stable version. Thus, we may find more interesting changes between the two major OS(s) later.
