Huawei is launching several products next week and one of these could be a VR headset. The company might unveil its long-rumored Virtual Reality device on October 22 to compete with the Apple Vision Pro in the Chinese consumer market.

VR or Virtual Reality headset is a head-mounted device. It offers immersive virtual experiences through a 3D near-eye display (lenses). The display uses key technologies like positional tracking to generate a virtual environment for the user.

A new input says that Huawei may launch its first high-end VR headset next week. The company has been in the news for its secretive VR device since February 2024. Many tipsters said the OEM has a dynamic headset in the pipeline.

Now it seems we don’t have to wait much to see the amazing Virtual Reality headset. Huawei hasn’t announced any details or teased the device so far. Thus, let’s hold patience till October 22 launch event for an official confirmation on this matter.

Some early leaks have claimed that Huawei’s VR device would be far better, lighter, and more cost-effective than Apple Vision Pro. According to the former executive of Meizu Li Nan, the Huawei VR headset will equip a Sony 4K micro-OLED screen.

This display panel might have the same capabilities as the Apple Vision Pro. Also, the device could use Huawei’s self-developed chipset and weigh 350 grams.

Next, the Huawei VR headset could feature a gesture-based control system with no time delay. While Apple Vision Pro (600 grams) costs 25000 yuan, the Huawei VR product may have a price value of 15000 yuan.

Overall, Huawei’s Virtual Reality headset will bear stronger features and capabilities than Apple Vision Pro. It may excel in comfort and run all day long.

Other features and details of the expected device are unknown. But we may find them by October 22. Stay Tuned.

Honor MagicOS 9.0 and HarmonyOS NEXT Control Panel have allegedly appeared in a new leak. The details and overall arrangement of the quick setting icons are quite similar between both operating systems. Let’s explore them in detail.

Weibo tipster @RuiPlaysDigital shared an image of two Control Panels, claiming them to be of HarmonyOS NEXT and MagicOS 9.0. One of these is similar to an early revelation of HarmonyOS NEXT Control Center and adds consent on this matter.

The tipster says the only difference between HarmonyOS NEXT and Honor MagicOS 9.0 Control Panel is the arrangement of widgets. For instance, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tabs, audio controller, volume and brightness adjuster, and so on.

Meanwhile, other features and icons of these two Control Panels are quite identical to each other. The blur effect between the two also differs to some extent but possesses the same capability. Let’s explore both Control Panels one by one.

Honor MagicOS 9.0 Control Panel

The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tabs are placed vertically on the top left, beside the hotspot section. Below these buttons, users will find the media player and two adjusters: brightness and volume. Settings and Edit icons are also visible above the hotspot.

At the topmost side, there is a battery indicator and other network services icon. The rest of the Control Panel is full of quick setting icons like ring, rotate, and more.

The live image shows an opaque background rather than a slight blur. But that could be the wallpaper effect. Other changes will be clear by the MagicOS 9.0 launch.

HarmonyOS NEXT MagicOS Control Panel

HarmonyOS NEXT Control Panel

The current appearance is quite similar to a previous leak. It shows merged items instead of separate ones. Just opt for a simple “swipe down” gesture to see all the icons alongside a large brightness adjuster, which is not visible in this picture.

All the icons and tabs appear at equidistance from each other. The tiny icons are now more round than ever before and seem quite big as well as recognizable.

One side of the Control Panel shows the setting icon while the other one highlights the editing option. The background seems more blurry, giving the effect of the main wallpaper on the Control Panel which ultimately makes it more appealing.

Concluding the points, the tipster said that HarmonyOS NEXT Control Panel isn’t the final version. Huawei could make more changes and modify it with the stable version. Thus, we may find more interesting changes between the two major OS(s) later.

Samsung One UI 7.0 will launch next year but a tipster managed to get the initial look of the new upgrade’s Quick Settings. Yes, a new leak presents the incredible look of the One UI 7.0 Control Panel and its design changes ahead of the stable release.

X tipster @UniverseIce has shared an alleged mockup of Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra that highlights the One UI 7.0 Quick Settings panel and it looks quite impressive.

Looking into the image, the Quick Settings UI shows a more clean, simple, and easy-to-navigate appearance. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tabs are now bigger highlighting a huge pill-shaped structure. Both these tabs are placed at the top.

Below these functions, the Control Panel has a 4 x 2 layout which shows 8 quick setting toggles. Users may expand this bar up to 16 toggles. The next section exhibits the audio controller with some tools that let you change the music without opening the respective application.

Ahead, the Quick Settings has two rounded-square-like structures for the brightness and volume adjuster. One can directly opt for Eye comfort and Dark mode through the brightness adjuster. Meanwhile, the volume controller shows sound settings.

Finally, there are two more tabs, just like the ones at starting. These tabs reflect the Smart View and Device Control. There are some changes to the network and battery indicators at the top of the Quick Settings. Also, the overall appearance is quite blurry but highlights and solid background.

Samsung has disappointed its users by delaying the One UI 7.0 launch but to excite you a little, we have a hands-on video of the new software. Here is a slight but real glimpse of how the upcoming One UI version will appear on your Samsung phone.

The new One UI 7 hands-on video is from a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The device is running an ‘in-development’ or early build of the upcoming software upgrade.

So without any delay, let’s jump into the hands-on shots.

The early One UI 7.0 live video shows some interesting changes in the Quick Settings, Notification Panel, App icons, recent section, and of course, the animation side.

Quick Settings and Notification Panel: Separate!

Galaxy S24 Ultra hands-on video shows a separate Notification Panel and Quick Settings. Starting with the Notification Panel, it has larger and more rounded pill-shaped bars showing the notifications. These pills have a down arrow to expand the alert with some in-app settings.

The page also highlights a new battery-level icon at the top and two tabs at the bottom: Settings (left) and Clear (right). One can access alert settings or clear them with a tap.

Quick Settings: This section appears more recognizable than before. Just like the Notification Panel, the Control Center has more rounded pills compared to the squarish-shape. It can cover the entire screen in one swipe to show additional settings.

Apps Drawer and Icons:

The search bar of the app drawer now appears at the bottom for easy access. It further has a three-line icon to enhance the search capability for apps and other services.

Icons: Samsung is seemingly giving a new makeover to app icons with One UI 7.0. All the system applications like Camera, Gallery, Phone, Settings, and more showed up in a new design, better than the previous software version.

Finder: The respective feature in the app drawer can now expand the keyboard by default. It also displays a pill that allows users to add the Finder on the Quick Settings. One can also select or prevent apps from appearing in the Finder.

Recent Apps Panel: The recent apps section now looks more like iOS. One UI 7 will offer a stack layout with significant transitions for the recent applications panel.

Galaxy Avatar

A new Galaxy Avatar tool has also sneaked from the Advanced Features section. It only reveals Avatar stickers and the Avatar Camera option. One can design new clothes for their avatars. It might be a new form of AR Emoji feature.

Regarding animation smoothness, the video shows slight lags while operating the device. That could be due to the early build of One UI 7. Perhaps, the tech giant may enhance the smoothness part by the time of the stable One UI 7 (Android 15) rollout.

Yes, the company will likely add more major improvements and features to the One UI 7 before its stable rollout next year.

Samsung will reveal One UI 7 software at its annual developer conference with new capabilities but can it compete against HarmonyOS NEXT and iOS 18?

Samsung is the largest Android partner and sells most devices in each quarter. Despite this dominance, the South Korean tech firm is a latecomer in the software experience.

It made some changes in One UI 6 including a new quick settings panel and new controls. These are much appreciated by One UI users but that doesn’t reflect any solution for a core issue.

The software feels more rigid and animations are still not fluid enough to fully utilize the device’s hardware performance. The user interface has improved over time yet Samsung could do even better.

One UI 7 will be based on Android 15, the latest Android software version. There are new camera optimizations, better navigation capabilities, satellite connectivity support, and more.

Aside from these, what do the competitors have to offer?

iOS 18

Apple has recently refreshed its iOS operating system for iPhones. It has drastically changed the software UI, improved personalization, and optimized animation effects throughout the system.

For example, the two new popular sections in this new OS are the control center and home screen. Apple is now allowing users to customize the control center and add custom controls.

This feature is already available in Android devices but Apple took it to the next level with new customizations. You can resize control buttons based on the space and group them. iOS 18 users can also manage different control screens based on their categories for an improved experience.

Another addition is the app icons with colors based on a tint selection right on the screen without even going to the settings. These capabilities are far more accessible compared to Samsung or Android.

Coming to the performance, the app and animations open slightly faster and animations are optimized to feel surrealistic, except for the 60Hz devices.

HarmonyOS NEXT

Coming to the new player, HarmonyOS NEXT is a new operating system based on HarmonyOS. Huawei has been polishing this Android-influenced OS for the past four years.

The software has now achieved a native app ecosystem in the Chinese market. It is redesigned for maximum fluidity and physics-based controls.

In comparison to One UI 6, HarmonyOS (not HarmonyOS NEXT) performs far better in smoothness and app interactions. HarmonyOS NEXT has even better interactions with the native experience.

One UI 7 will be better?

Even though Samsung may not achieve superiority over these two software, it should at least come to the same level as its competitors because it will eventually benefit its customers. We’ll see what the company unveils at SDC event.

One UI 7 will be the next major chapter in the Samsung software upgrade world. Android 15-based One UI 7 will bring exciting features and UI tools, and before its official release, here’s an overview of the upcoming OS version for Samsung devices.

Samsung has been working on the One UI 7.0 for a few months. This ultimately sparks the expectations for an official announcement of the new software release.

However, the company hasn’t given any official statements on this matter so far. The good news is that the Samsung Developer Conference will held on October 03 (tomorrow). At that time, the tech giant might share One UI 7.0-related news.

Chances are high as the company highlighted a few key segments of the One UI 6 at the SDC event last year. This time too, we may witness some exclusive features ahead of the software’s official launch. Let’s cross our fingers and wait for tomorrow.

Android 15

Being one of the biggest Android players, Samsung will launch the One UI 7.0 based on Android 15. Google’s new Android version is going through multiple beta tests including the QPR builds. It is expected to go stable this month, but the date is still unknown.

Following the Android 15 beta updates, Samsung One UI 7.0 beta program was expected to begin in August this year. Although the company delayed the matter. It seems the company is taking time to optimize its new OS with better animations, features, and enhancements.

One UI 7.0: Release?

Probably, Samsung will initiate the One UI 7.0 beta program after the stable release of Android 15. The situation may also turn around at the SDC 2024 event and the company may release the One UI 7 beta on the first day of the conference.

Samsung has unexpectedly delayed the One UI 7.0 beta this year. While the Galaxy S23 was the first to get the One UI 6 beta in 2023, Galaxy S24 users are still waiting for the major upgrade offering. Although the company may clear the mist on this matter this month.

One UI 7.0: Eligible Devices

The tech giant will roll out One UI 7.0 beta and stable builds starting from its flagship Galaxy models. Thereafter, it will be released for other models of the A, M, and F series.

Note that the Galaxy S24 series as well as the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 6 models received the blessing of 7-year update support. Meanwhile, previous models of the Galaxy family remain confined to the 4 years of major OS and 5 years of security rollouts.

Samsung One UI 7

Samsung One UI 7 (Android 15) – Release Date, Eligible Devices and Features (Image Credits: HuaweiCentral)

It’s one of the major benefits for the Galaxy S24 and Z Fold/Flip 6 users as they can enjoy some extra years of huge Android upgrades. Let’s take a look at which models could be the first to fetch the One UI 7 beta and stable software update:

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 FE
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

Note that this isn’t an official roadmap. But based on the previous rollout pattern, Samsung could follow this upgrade plan to some extent. The company will likely add more devices to the list in the upcoming days.

One UI 7.0: Features

One UI 7.0 will be a packet of interesting features. It may sport a completely revamped UI with better animations and transitions. It could also adopt a Dynamic Island tool to show the live activities of an application without actually opening it.

A rumor claimed that One UI 7 could use an iOS-like battery health feature to offer a clear detail about the device’s battery status. A Vertical App Drawer is also in the works to make application access easier and more convenient for phone users.

Samsung will likely focus on enhancing the UI segment with One UI 7. Some other changes that we find with the upcoming software include new system app icons, new control area at the lock screen, easy adjustment of shortcut icons on the lock screen, new battery icon + charging animation, new camera interface, large folders, and more.

Ironically, One UI 7.0 could also steal the EMUI’s old separate Quick Settings and Notification Panel design. Although that’s just a speculation and things will get clear with the official launch of Samsung One UI 7.0.

Google will likely change how the Quick Settings and Notification Panel appear on your phone, with Android 16. However, instead of being an effective and beneficial makeover, this new modification could annoy smartphone users to some extent.

The Android 16 Quick Settings and Notification Panel tweak has appeared ahead of the Android 15 stable release. Spotted in the Android 15 QPR1 beta, the U.S. firm plans to separate the Quick Settings and Notification Panel with the next upgrade.

Up to this point, Android software used to offer a unified Notification Panel and Quick Settings. But with the next Android version, Google could change this pattern.

Starting with the Notification Panel, users will be able to access the panel via a single swipe gesture. But rather than covering the entire screen, the panel will only take a quarter of the display. Notably, this gesture won’t let you access Quick Settings.

For the Control Center, users need to swipe down on the screen with two fingers. This could be slightly annoying as it ends the one-hand accessibility. Although Google might make new changes or enhancements to this segment in the time ahead.

Quick Settings will further reflect a dual-shade design throughout. Also, the brightness adjuster now appears in a thick pill shape and shows a text label, just like volume sliders. Users may also see 2 x 2 grid tiles and 4 x 2 grids for narrow tiles.

The Quick Settings will show 12-16 tiles per page. One can swipe left or right to access more settings. Light mode could be another addition. This is just an initial look and Google could make changes to these panels with the next versions.

Huawei Central’s Take:

Separate Quick Settings and Notification Panel – well, that reminds us of the Huawei phones. The Chinese OEM introduced this concept with EMUI 12 based on extensive research on user preferences and psychology. One can easily go through all alerts and notifications at a time without getting stuck due to Quick Settings.

Years later, smartphone makers started adopting the same pattern for their Android skin. Xiaomi’s HyperOS and now Google are examples in this case. But instead of making it a tough task, Huawei simplified the dual panels with easy one-finger gestures.

How Google will renovate this idea with Android 16 would be worth looking at.
