HarmonyOS NEXT-based WeChat app is open for public testing and has a set of new features including a seamless chat transfer tool. Huawei devices running on the latest software beta build can now experience these changes and app capabilities.

Weibo tipster @AdakFenglangjuxu mentioned that Huawei device users who upgraded to HarmonyOS NEXT can use the WeChat seamless chat transfer tool.

From the name, the feature will efficiently transfer all the chat records of WeChat to the new software system, without losing any details or other data of the app. Ensure that you are using the WeChat HarmonyOS NEXT application version.

The feature seems quite effective. Often users concern about the device data and chats while upgrading their device to a new OS. Doing so leads to conversation loss and requires multiple processes to transfer the chat records locally.

Although WeChat HarmonyOS NEXT app has resolved this problem with a seamless chat transfer tool. Note this feature will only support Huawei devices upgraded to the HarmonyOS NEXT beta version. Others have to wait for subsequent builds.

The tipster further reveals that HarmonyOS NEXT has great changes for the Control Center. It may also bring an iOS-like live map to users for easy navigation.

HarmonyOS NEXT could further adopt a one-tap lock screen access capability and some more effective changes. A recent feature of the new OS is app cloning which can split the original app into 5 clones so that users can effectively run the application.

More such features are on the way. Many native HarmonyOS apps are now open for public testing. The drawback is only HarmonyOS NEXT beta users can explore these applications. But Huawei may expand the software testing to more device owners in the coming weeks.

Huawei is launching HarmonyOS NEXT public beta in the next few days and its new App Clone feature can do something new for people who like multitask a lot.

This App Clone feature is exclusive to HarmonyOS NEXT and has been spotted with a recently closed beta rollout. It can create up to 5 clones of the original app within the same device.

These apps will open and function separately based on their features. The company has also confirmed that cloned apps will be listed on the app clone settings. These can be deleted in case you no longer need them.

With that being said, you can create icons for these apps on the home screen altogether. A little blue icon on the bottom right corner of the app icons is confirmed as a clone.

The feature reminds me of App Twin, a capability first introduced with EMUI smartphone years ago. This feature creates two instances of the same app and allows you to log in with two different accounts (for that app).

This feature was launched for social media apps such as FaceBook and WhatsApp. Upgrading such capability and bringing a more aggressive cloning capability is new for HarmonyOS NEXT. Although app clones may not fancy all but it will be useful for some users.

HarmonyOS NEXT is a new operating system based on HarmonyOS and developed by Huawei. The Chinese tech maker has polished many core software technologies for this new OS and built for native applications.

This new HarmonyOS has been under testing since early 2024 and it’ll enter public test on October 8.

Samsung Gallery will likely get the blessing of new AI features with the One UI 7.0 operating system. The company is developing its next OS version in such a way that it can benefit smartphone users with a richer and more efficient software experience.

X tipster IceUniverse notes that One UI 7.0 will bring some new AI features to the Samsung Gallery app. These add-ons could be for the AI search tool. Perhaps the company wants to make searches more convenient for users with better capabilities.

AI Search refers to an efficient gallery tool that helps users find images more easily, using AI. It understands the context, thus providing quick results of your queries.

Samsung Gallery AI Search tool is already one step ahead of Google Photos. It gives access to the People tab and allows you to collect images with a person in groups accordingly. The app also organizes images based on shot types or locations. It seems One UI 7 will make this tool more significant in the time ahead.

The tipster didn’t mention the exact changes that the Samsung Gallery app will get with One UI 7. Though it’s clear that the upcoming software is full of surprises.

A comparative image by the tipster further hints that Samsung Gallery will provide a much better experience than other album applications. Users may also observe some optimizations to the existing features that will make the app more worthy.

Apart from applications, One UI 7.0 has some incredible offerings for the UI and other sections of smartphones. A revamped Notification Panel and Quick Settings, a vertical app drawer, and more are on the expected features list. Let’s see what Samsung will serve to its users with the One UI 7.0 software upgrade.

A Weibo tipster said that HarmonyOS NEXT will likely make the Celia assistant smarter with new AI features. The developer beta 2 update has some interesting changes that show how Huawei users will benefit from the Celia virtual assistant.

Tipster @FixedFocus shared his experience with the HarmonyOS NEXT developer beta 2 update. While exploring new features, he found that the Celia voice assistant has now become smarter and more useful for day-to-day operations.

With HarmonyOS NEXT, users could be able to add the to-do list tasks directly to the Celia assistant app. All it may require is the simple drag-and-drop gesture.

In other words, Huawei phone users will be able to drag the items or tasks of the to-do list app to the Celia assistant (navigation bar at the bottom of the device). Hereafter, the assistant will run its AI services to manage these tasks accurately. Thus, users don’t have to command every time for a new task.

Another tipster explained that the HarmonyOS NEXT’s Celia app will be far ahead of MagicOS 8.0’s Anywhere Door feature. The respective capability enables users to quickly drag and drop files or other media content into a desired app via a virtual door.

Further inputs reveal that the new feature is the best and most powerful segment of HarmonyOS NEXT. It will make task completion easier and more convenient on devices. Users can easily navigate the Celia assistant without going for multiple taps.

During the official launch of the HarmonyOS NEXT beta version in June, the company explained how the new software will enhance Celia app’s functioning for users.

Huawei stated that it will upgrade the ordinary assistant to the Celia super assistant app with better AI capabilities and useful features. It will equip the Pangu Large Model 5.0, making the logical and reasoning aspects 90% more efficient than before.

Some of the new Celia assistant features have appeared in the latest testing build. Although we can expect more upgrades, improvements, and AI tools with the stable HarmonyOS NEXT version.

Huawei has announced that there are now over 4000 native apps that are developed or in development for the native HarmonyOS app ecosystem.

This announcement comes amid the company is preparing to launch HarmonyOS NEXT, a pure version of the HarmonyOS operating system. In 2020, Huawei released HarmonyOS 2.0 which supported smartphone platforms but can also run Android apps.

The dual app framework integrates open-source Android code libraries. The company has eliminated all of the Android code from HarmonyOS NEXT and is now focusing solely on HarmonyOS apps.

Earlier this year, the company announced that more than 200 app developers have joined the development of native HarmonyOS applications. Compared to that the company saw 20 times the growth in the number of apps within the 4 months. That’s an exponential growth.

Announced at the Huawei Developer Conference 2023, Huawei aims to make this new HarmonyOS software universal to the Huawei ecosystem with improved performance. New optimizations were made to the app architecture and software side to improve compatibility. This will result in fast load and smooth interface interactions for apps and games.

The current list of apps covers different industries including lifestyle, travel, finance, social media, productivity tools, audio and video entertainment, games, and more.

Strengthening the mobile app ecosystem is one of the key challenges for the company. However, shifting to a native mobile system could help it to grow from the inside out to challenge Android in China.

Huawei has launched the developer version of HarmonyOS NEXT for testing. A consumer version launch for all mobile users could be coming at HDC 2024 in the second half of this year.
